Royal Parks; Green Park, Hyde Park, Pall Mall: London

11th September 2014

We the arrival of Prince George, Runviewer.co.uk paid homage to the Royals with a dash round some of their lovely parks.

We start in the South East corner of Leicester Square, dodge the crowds and pass along the Mall, which runs parallel to St. James’s Park AKA land of ducks, pelicans and glorious palace views.

We reach Buckingham Palace at sunset, skip past the post-work bootcamp crew in Green Park and enter Hyde Park from it’s South East corner, alongside an army of cyclists. We take a quick detour through the Rose Garden – so fragrant in summer – looping around the Serpentine lake, still bustling with pedaloes, to slingshot back through the centre of the park and it’s more fallow meadow areas. You’d forget you were in central London, if it wasn’t for the determined evening picnickers, outdoor drinkers and imposing, enclosed events space that fills the East section of the park each summer.

We return via Hyde Park’s Park Lane entrance, brave again the war memorial roundabout, and return via Green Park and Pall Mall to Trafalgar Square and the imposing National Gallery.
